Mogadishu , Somalia (AQRI.net) — Israel has launched a deadly strike in Qatar’s capital, Doha, targeting senior Hamas leaders in what officials described as a high-level assassination attempt. The assault, which sent shockwaves through the Gulf, coincided with ongoing ceasefire negotiations aimed at halting the war in Gaza.
Witnesses reported multiple explosions across Doha late Monday, sparking panic in the normally secure capital. According to Hamas sources, the targeted meeting was focused on a U.S.-backed proposal to end months of devastating conflict in Gaza.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry swiftly condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly act” and a “flagrant violation of international law.” Officials warned that such actions could destabilize ongoing diplomatic efforts across the region.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian toll in Gaza continues to climb. Medical authorities said at least 35 Palestinians, including seven who were seeking aid, were killed by Israeli forces in the past 24 hours. Since October 2023, Israel’s military campaign has killed at least 64,605 Palestinians and wounded 163,319, with thousands still trapped beneath the rubble, health officials report.
Israel has maintained that its operations are aimed at dismantling Hamas following the October 7 attacks, which killed 1,139 Israelis and left about 200 people in captivity.
The strike in Doha represents a dangerous escalation, expanding Israel’s military reach beyond Gaza and raising fears of wider regional instability.
